  My skills focus on the application of design to several areas: database driven web applications development, software architectures, lighting, 2D and 3D graphics, photography, general problem solving, group management, and the production of documentation. I created and produced several very successful online shopping web sites that received wide acclaim.  

 
Factotum Meets The Eye 2007 - Present  
  The job title refers to someone who is hired to do whatever needs to be done. So, for the past couple years I've been involved in a mix of activities: sound recording, still photography, strategic planning, graphic design, print productions, web design, software, matte paintings, 3D modeling, 2D animation, voiceovers, art direction, architectural planning, and whatever else comes up as we're trying to get the studio up and running.
 
Software Designer Various Clients 1998 - 2007  
  Produced Cold Fusion/SQL Server based web sites for retail, non-profit, and medical clients, produced CGI Scripts, Active Server Pages, Catalog Photography and digital video. Designed the databases and applications to meet each client's needs. In some cases produced the site designs, in others integrated database application with another designer's site.

Software Engineer Acuson, Mountain View, CA April 1994 -August 1995
  Designed a new architecture for peripheral I/O device communications with the company's ultrasound system. Designed and implemented new drivers for VCRs, printers, and non volatile memory management. Encouraged the use of coding standards, more efficient development techniques and workgroup production methods.
Software Engineer IBM Corporation, San Jose, CA April 1989 - April 1994
  Designed, implemented and maintained extensions to an IBM Corporation thin-film hard disc production facility's production information control system.

Designed, implemented and maintained a network based Continuous Flow Manufacturing system for a separate IBM mainframe hard disc production line.

Both systems were client server network PC based transaction processing systems using SQL to pass their local DB/2 datasets on to Host-based mainframe databases.
Software Engineer Qualimatrix, Inc., Emeryville, CA October 1987 - April 1989
  Provided real time operating system support to all new projects. Designed, implemented and supported common code libraries for serial, parallel, analog I/O, video displays, framestores, and disc drives.

Designed and implemented real time hot metal strip thickness profiler. Designed and implemented a real time video based positioning system.
Software Engineer Matrix Integrated Systems, Richmond, CA January 1986 - September 1987
  Provided real time operating system support to all new projects. Introduced documentation and coding standards. Designed, implemented and documented a software toolkit for real time system control of a Plasma based silicon wafer etching system.
Software Engineer Tak Automation, Burlingame, CA July 1983 - September 1985
  Implemented operator interface for high speed metal strip slitter. Rewrote one FORTH system used for development, maintained another. Designed and implemented a quality report and tracking system for several high speed metal rolling mill applications.
